Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3

Max is really testing the boundaries of life lately.  He’s pushing us to see what our reactions will be, and he is just seeing what he can get away with, generally.  Today was the perfect example: he stepped in dog poop on purpose, ran away from me in the store, and took his pants off at the park, ha ha.  You know, just because, What does it feel like to step in a pile of poop?  How far away from Mommy can I get, her limping behind me on her broken toe? And what would it feel like to have my butt be all naked up here at the top of this slide?  The big, important questions.

I was chatting with a lady in line at the grocery store who was saying how Max was soooo cute, and I commented she should have seen how “cute” he was an hour before during a naughty moment. She replied that she had raised three sons, so she knew a thing or two about naughty, but that you could tell Max is a “good-natured naughty”.  I’d agree with that.

Yeah Matilda is testing too… though I’m glad it doesn’t involve dog poo. She’s more into hitting or kicking purposefully, while looking you in the eye, and if you ask her why she says she was mad at you. Because I guess thats a good reason in her book. And I talk, and explain, and discuss, and give consequences, yet she’s only 2.5 and of course continues to do it.
And better yet I’m getting a glimpse of what’s to come… she gives me these little bits of ‘attitude’ that scream teenager. And she even rolled her eyes and sighed at me the other day. I’m doomed. I think this might be the girl equivalent of poo and public nakedness ;)
